# skill.md and installable skills

Understand the difference between a readable skill.md file and an installable Kaien image-generation skill.

## What is a regular `skill.md`?

`skill.md` is a Markdown entry point that tells an agent what Kaien API supports, which documents to read, and which safety boundaries to follow.

The public file is:

```text
https://kaienapi.com/docs/en/skill.md
```

## How to use it

Give the URL to an agent that can read web pages or Markdown. The agent can then use the API Reference and relevant guides to generate integration code.

## Installable image skill

An installable skill adds workflow instructions for agent image generation. Install it with the command documented in the [Agent Image Generation guide](/docs/en/ai/agent-image-generation).

The regular `skill.md` helps an agent understand the API. The installable skill helps the agent execute a specific image-generation workflow, including task polling and local file output.

## Security

Neither entry point contains or creates an API key. Configure your own key through the agent's supported secret or environment-variable mechanism, and keep it out of prompts, Git, and public frontend code.
